DASS participates in free, local festivals such as Winterfest at Seattle Center and Juneteenth at Rainier Beach Community Center and Bellevue Arts Museum ARTSfair. DASS also holds an annual Arts Crush event, Dancin til Dusk, that shows a glimpse of work in progress as well as offers an opportunity for kids to learn and perform a dance with the DASSdancers. |
Since 2000, DASS has built a history of outreach programs in conjunction with its premiere programs. Out of the Dust (2006) was created in conjunction with Read Across America and toured schools in King and Snohomish counties. Poor Man's Boogie (2008) was presented by New York City's University Settlement for their "Open Door" program. Fighting Water was presented to Snohomish and King county youth and involved an interactive water display and movie about water pollution and conservation by our partner Puget Soundkeeper Alliance.
DASS' main Seattle focus is in the Central District but also has offered classes in Rainier Beach. In 2010, DASS offered free classes to youth at the Rainier Beach Community Center and free classes at Garfield Community Center in partnership with Langston Hughes Performing Arts Ceneter. DASS currently holds ongoing classes at Washington Hall. Scholarships are always available to students in need. These scholarships are subsidized by our generous community patrons.
ALL 4 1 danceapalooza is a annual event that increases our reach, exposing DASS teen students to peers from all around the Puget Sound area. This new nexus for contemporary dance, opens up conversations across cultures and the region through the expression of dance. All 4 1 takes place at Washington Hall. See the All 4 1 page for details.
Please do not hesitate to contact us about any of our educational programs. Let us know the subject you aim to breech through the excitement of our athletic All-Terrain dance style. DASS strives to continue to nurture new relationships with educators and peer non-profits. Let us bring the fun to you!
